Billing Account
Users may set up a billing account and order articles against it. UnCover
assigns a billing account number and the user selects a billing account
password. A $10 US monthly invoicing fee applies to all accounts.
Boolean Searching
Boolean Searching using the AND, OR, AND NOT, and BUT NOT connectors is available in UnCover. For example, //W CHILDREN AND (CONVULSIONS OR SEIZURES) BUT NOT EPILEPSY.
Customized Gateway
An organization may purchase this access beginning at $10,000 US per year.
Base fee provides four dedicated ports, some customization of screens, and
matching of serials holdings against UnCover. Users telnet to a special address
and are validated on their originating IP address.
Date Qualifying
Date qualifying is not supported in UnCover at this time.
Deposit Account
Users may deposit $100 US or more with UnCover and order articles against this amount. UnCover assigns a deposit account number and the user selects a deposit account password.
Fax Surcharge
A fax surcharge is assessed for articles delivered outside of the U.S. and Canada. At the time the order is placed and the country code given, the user is informed of the appropriate charge.
Help Screens
Customized command-specific help screens are available in UnCover. A complete list is available by entering ?H2.
Issue Information
After the full record for a journal is selected, users may enter E and [return] to examine the list of available issues. Information includes issue volume and number, and an indication of whether tables of contents are available.
Joint Name Search
Searches for joint authors of articles. For example, //J{AALBERSBERG} AND {ENGELFRIET}.
Marking Articles
When the user identifies an article for delivery, the article must be "Marked" by entering M and [return] prior to ordering.
Name Search
A Name Search looks for authors of articles in UnCover; a Word Search should be used to look for articles about a person. Up to three authors are included in the citation. For example, //N MARK DICKERSON.
Name/Word Search
A Name/Word Search may be used to search for Author in combination with Words from the article title or journal title. Useful for isolating a particular article for ordering. For example, //N DICKERSON/GAMBLING.
Orderinfo
The //ORDERINFO command allows users to check on the status of an individual order, list all orders made using their account number, list all orders made using their profile number, and see the balance in their deposit account.
Ordering Articles
After articles have been "Marked" for delivery, the user may Order them by entering O and [return].
Profile
The //PROFILE command allows users to edit their user profile at any time.
Reveal
The //REVEAL command allows users to see and delete from the list of journals for receiving Reveal tables of contents.
Right Hand Truncation
Right hand truncation may be invoked in UnCover with the * symbol. For example, //W REPTIL* .

a different pool of ports and are validated using originating IP address.
Intended for organizations who wish to list UnCover as a menu option on the
Public Access Catalog or local area network at their site.
Tables of Contents
After the E to examine command has been executed for a journal title and individual issues displayed, the user may see the table of contents for any issue by entering the line number and [return].
Title Search
A Title Search in UnCover allows users to browse through the journal titles in alphabetical order. For example, //T XENOBIOTICA.
UnCover Complete
Allows users to order articles from journals listed in the database, but which pre-date the database (pre-1989) or are not included in the tables of contents (letters to the editors). Same pricing as regular UnCover orders.
UnCover Reveal
Allows users to create a list of journals they are interested in; UnCover will automatically send copies of tables of contents of new issues to their Internet e-mail address. Requires that a profile be set up. Limit of 100 titles per user.
UnCover S.O.S.
Single Order Source, a service which allows users to order articles by fax,
e-mail, or telephone. Citations need not be verified in UnCover before order
is placed. Delivery charges are $10.00 US (plus copyright and fax surcharge
if applicable). Confirmation of order sent within two hours.
User Profile
Users may choose to set up a profile of information for themselves which
includes information such as name, e-mail address, fax number, phone number,
and address. This allows them to order a number of articles without having to
re-key the information each time. All information may be overridden on an
article-by-article basis at time of ordering. The system assigns a profile
number, and the user selects a profile password.
Word Search
A Word Search in UnCover searches words from the article title, journal title,
and article summary. In addition, the subject headings and format term from
the bibliographic record are Word searchable. For example, //W WORM.
