Duration: Four years
Positions: Fellowships for 2-4 months are available in the group of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry for researchers with more than ten years experience. The fields of interest are Molecular Dynamics (classical or quantum) and/or High Performance Computing. The salary depends on the family status according to the general Marie Curie rules.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The challenges in modern Computational Chemistry covering phenomena of long time scales, from femtoseconds to seconds, and large spatial scales, from small molecules to biopolymers, can be answered by the emerging Grid computational technology. This allows one to employ hundreds of computers as a seamless, integrated, computational and collaborative environment embracing different categories of distributed systems. The project concerns the development and applications of computer codes to study the quantum and classical dynamics of polyatomic molecules for large time scales (Grid-CompChem). For the applications an intragrid with a few tens of CPUs as well as the HellasGrid, the Italian CHEMGRID and The European Grid will be employed. With the completion of the project all participating groups will become more competitive at the international level, by acquiring the ability to reap the much needed power provided by computational facilities of unthinkable magnitude a few years ago.
